According to the Manorama report, Sheen has been with Elon Musk since the day he took over Twitter.
The employment security of Twitter employees remains shaky. Even after massive layoffs of Twitter’s global workforce, Elon Musk’s firm is still uncertain about firing employees. On Friday, December 16, Twitter allegedly lay off engineers from its infrastructure department. While the actual number of employees let go is unknown, many engineers who were let go got an email stating that their role at the firm was no longer needed.
Now, according to an Indian website, Manoramaonline, Elon Musk has hired a Tesla principal engineer to manage Twitter’s infrastructure business. Sheen Austin, the engineer, and his new team will be in charge of all vital technological infrastructure, including the company’s data centers.
According to the Manorama story, Sheen has been with Elon Musk since the day he took over Twitter.
According to The Information, on Friday evening, several Twitter workers in Twitter’s infrastructure organization got an official email indicating that Twitter has reviewed its workforce and is decreasing duties that are no longer essential.
Elon Musk was previously rumored to have fired Nelson Abramson, Twitter’s head of infrastructure, as well as other top business executives. Alan Rosa, the company’s global information technology leader and vice president of information security, was also let go.
Musk has slashed Twitter’s entire workforce by 75% since taking over the microblogging site in late October. Prior to the major layoffs, the social networking firm allegedly employed 7,500 individuals, including then-CEO Parag Agrawal.
However, immediately after the purchase, Musk laid off over 2,000 workers and introduced a “hardcore” work culture in which employees are required to work long hours.
